この作品は作者の故郷が主な舞台となっている。日々の中でその暮らしに刻まれるかすかな裂け目、ほんの少しの翳りを探りながら、記憶を揺動させていく物語である。 よく知っているはずの風景や家族と何度も出会い直す日常の旅。家を取り巻く風景はかけがえのない人生へと重なる。

藤岡亜弥の眼の強靭さは、故郷の家族という最も近い血と地を撮ったこのシリーズにおいて、絶対的な距離と柔らかな触手というかたちで現れる。幾重にも渦巻く存在の不思議、日常が未知へとつづくきざはし。この写真によって初めて眼前にする生と死の営みに打たれながら、「私は眠らない」という一筋の響きを、つよく遠い希いのように聞くことができる。

I don't sleep
Aya Fujioka

Aya Fujioka's "I don't sleep" condenses photographs taken over five years into a book with a coherent story. The beginning of the book establishes Fujioka's pure photographic talent, where the large size of the book complements her carefully balanced snapshots. These photos appear to be taken more or less at random, but slowly Fujioka begins to reveal the events happening around her. A unique way of sequencing photographs brings the viewer closer to Fujioka's world, and in turn helps to explain the book's title. Fujioka's strength as a photographer is clear throughout the book, but "I don't sleep" is not just an aesthetic expression. It's an unflinching, deeply personal reflection on family ties.
