雪の北海道を旅する二人を、静かに見つめ続けた写真集。
映画『青い鳥』の舞台となった北海道の風景のなかで、森七菜演じるミチルと黒川想矢演じるトアの二人は、同じ風景を見つめながら、言葉にならない時間をともに過ごしていきます。
その繊細な揺れ動きを、映画の監督であり写真家でもある増田彩来が、撮影の現場でカメラに収め続けました。
本書に収められた写真は、映画と並行して生まれながらも、カラーとモノクロのイメージが交差するページの流れのなかで、映画とは異なる呼吸をもつ、もうひとつの「青い鳥」を立ち上げていきます。
雪原、森、凍てつく湖。

“私は写真集がとても好きです。
自分の距離感や時間の流れで作品に触れられるあの感覚が、ずっと好きです。
なので今回、「青い鳥」を写真集という形にできたことを本当に嬉しく思っています。
「青い鳥」で生まれた映画と写真は、形は違っても、同じ場所から始まったものだと思っています。どれも私にとっての「幸せの青い鳥」から始まりました。
表現の仕方が変われば、そこに写るものは変わります。映像には流れる時間があり、脚本にはミチルのファインダーがあり、ミチルとトアの写真には私の視線があります。

Abiding

A photobook that quietly observes two travelers moving through the snowy landscapes of Hokkaido.
Set against the vast winter scenery of Hokkaido—the setting of the film Abiding—the book follows Michiru and Toa as they move through the same landscapes, sharing moments that remain beyond words.
These photographs were taken during the filming of Abiding by its director, Sara Masuda, who is also recognized for her work as a photographer.
Although some images originated as film stills, the photographs gathered in this book form their own quiet current. Through a sequence where color and black-and-white images weave together, another “Abiding” gradually emerges—one that breathes at a different rhythm from the film.
Snowfields, forests, frozen lakes.
Within the light of the Hokkaido landscapes Masuda loves, the silence and distance that arise between people—and the faint warmth that sometimes appears within them—are gently recorded.
Cinema holds time as it flows,
a screenplay holds Michiru’s view through the viewfinder, in the role of a female photographerand the photographs hold Masuda’s own gaze.
Moments that pass across the screen are preserved here as still images, allowing the subtle presence of light and the quiet space of emotion to slowly surface.
This photobook draws from another hidden current: the question posed by the film ─ What is happiness?—gathering it like fragments of time that remain with us.

増田 彩来
写真家 / 映像監督 2001年9月12日生まれ。東京都出身。 静止画の中に動を残すことを大切に、その瞬間を閉じこめたような写真が魅力の写真家。 映画宣伝ビジュアル、企業広告、アーティスト写真、CDジャケットなどのスチール撮影を担当。 2021年、20歳になる節目に、個展「écran [エクラン]」を開催し、11月には、「渋谷芸術祭」の公式プログラム「渋谷ストリートギャラリー」にて、渋谷各所のデジタルサイネージに、作品「深呼吸の在処」を掲載。 2024年3月、女優川島海荷を2年間撮り続けた写真展「直線のうみ」を開催。 映像監督としても活動しており、CMやミュージックビデオの監督・撮影を務めるなど、活動の幅を広げている。短編映画『カフネの祈り』が、SHORT SHORT FILM FESTIVAL&ASIA 2024にて、ジャパンカテゴリーオーディエンスアワードを受賞。 2025年には同映画祭にて、東京都との共同事業による、“Sustainable Recovery Project.”にて、短編映画「日の出を知らない街(※英語タイトル:The place before daybreak)」を制作し、YouTubeにて、世界配信。現在100万回の再生数を超える。 2026年2月時点でInstagramのフォロワー17万人を突破。
商業監督デビュー短編映画『青い鳥』が、複数の新鋭監督による短編作品を1本の映画として編み上げる、オムニバス企画『GEMNIBUS vol.2』として、TOHO シネマズ 日比谷にて 3 月 6 日(金)～3月 12 日(木) まで 1 週間限定公開中。

Sara Masuda
Photographer / Film Director. Born in 2001 in Tokyo, Japan. Masuda began working as a photographer at the age of 16. Her photographs capture moments where motion seems suspended within stillness. She has worked on still photography for film promotional visuals, corporate advertising, artist portraits, and CD jackets. In 2021, marking the year she turned twenty, she held the solo exhibition écran. Later that year, her work “深呼吸の在処” was featured on digital signage across Shibuya as part of the official program “Shibuya Street Gallery” of the Shibuya Arts Festival. In March 2024, she presented the photography exhibition “直線のうみ“, a project documenting actress Umika Kawashima over two years.
Masuda is also active as a filmmaker, expanding her creative activities by directing and shooting commercials and music videos, among other projects. Her short film Kafune’s Prayer won the Audience Award in the Japan Competition at SHORT SHORTS FILM FESTIVAL & ASIA 2024.
In 2025, she created the short film The Place Before Daybreak for the “Sustainable Recovery Project,” a collaborative initiative with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government presented at the same film festival.
The film was released worldwide on YouTube and has surpassed one million views. As of February 2026, her Instagram account has over 170,000 followers.
Her commercial directorial debut, the short film Abiding, is currently being screened as part of the omnibus project GEMNIBUS vol.2—a feature composed of short works by emerging directors—at TOHO Cinemas Hibiya for a limited one-week run from March 6 to March 12 2026.
