「TIDE」 は、古里裕美が2015年から現在に至るまでの約10年間、宮城県石巻市に住むひとりの女性を中心に、共に同時代を生きる人々と、広がる光景、風景へとカメラを向けつづけてきた作品群である。
つかみようのない「現在」に揺らぎながらも、自分たちは生きて存在しているという実感が、写真の中で衝突し、溶けていく。
不確かさの受容から意味を超えて「在る」ことと「現在」の探求を試みる。
本作において印象的なことのひとつは、女性どうしがどの世代においても関係を築き、その結びつきが生の確かな軸となっている姿である。祖母、母、娘、友人、隣人へと静かに受け渡されるまなざしや時間は、個の営みでありながら、たしかに共同の感覚を宿している。
彼女を見つめるその眼差しは、同時にこちらへと返される。
写真のなかで向き合うとき、私たちはどれほど切実に、互いを見返してきただろうか。
海の満ち引きのように、生死や記憶は身の内で絶えず揺れ動いている。
身体の奥から溢れ出るものは、外界の光や風景と呼応しながら流れつづける。
私もまた、ひとつの海である。
「TIDE」 は、そうした内なる潮と外界の起伏が響き合う場として、存在と現在を見つめ直す試みである。
切実さと豊かさが交錯するその像は、個の物語を超え、私たちが共に生きる時間の深層へと静かに開かれていく。
関係の写詩 ────
撮ったのではなく、撮られたのでもない。
そういうことが問題なのではない。
ここで交差する私たちの存在が、
カメラによって、
過去も未来も現在からも逃げ出して
ひたすらに、その全身を尊くひらかれ、
私とは、何にも囚われようのない、
血の燃えるひとりの
赤い海なのだということを。
私とは、かつて幼く、老いて、死して、
あなたでもあった、ということを。
カメラを海に投げてしまえ。

TIDE
Hiromi Furusato
TIDE brings together a body of photographs that Hiromi Furusato has continued to make over the past decade, from 2015 to the present. Centered on a woman living in Ishinomaki, Miyagi, the work has continually turned its camera toward the people living in the same time and toward the unfolding scenes and landscapes around them.
In these photographs, the fragile sensation that we are alive and present in an elusive “now” collides and dissolves. From an acceptance of uncertainty, the work seeks to move beyond meaning itself, turning instead toward an exploration of being—and of the present moment.
One of the striking aspects of this work is the way women form relationships across generations, their bonds becoming a steady axis of life.
Grandmothers, mothers, daughters, friends, neighbors—the gazes and moments quietly passed from one to another remain personal acts, yet they unmistakably carry a shared sense of being.

The gaze directed toward them is, at the same time, returned to us.
When we face one another in photographs, how urgently have we truly looked back at each other? Like the ebb and flow of the sea, life and death, memory and presence continue to shift within us. What rises from the depths of the body flows outward, resonating with the light and landscapes of the world. “I”, too, am a sea.
TIDE becomes a place where these inner tides and the movements of the outer world echo one another—a quiet attempt to reconsider what it means to exist, and to inhabit the present. The images, where urgency and richness intertwine, move beyond the story of a single life, opening gently onto the deeper strata of the time we share together.

Artist Information
古里 裕美
1987年生まれ。2018年よりフォトアーキペラゴ写真学校に参加。
主な受賞に、APAアワード2019〈写真作品部門〉佳作（2019）、IMA next #24「MEMORIES」ティム・バーバー選（2021）、塩竈フォトフェスティバル2024 特別賞（2024）。2024年に個展「光になって会いに来て、光になって会いに行く」（WORK CINEMA Paradise）を開催。現在は東京と宮城県を拠点に活動中。

Born 1987, a member of the Photo Archipelago Photography School since 2018.
Awards Include: Honorable Mention in the Photography Works Category of the 2019 APA Awards, Tim Barber Selection in the 2021 IMA Next #24 “MEMORIES”, Special Prize in the 2024 Shiogama Photo Festival.
Solo exhibition “Become Light to Come and See, Become Light to Go and Meet” at WORK CINEMA Paradise in 2024, Currently based in Tokyo and Miyagi Prefectures.
